A Collage Of Moments I Love
I’ve been journaling on and off since I was about 9 years old. I’ve never been great at keeping all my thoughts in one place. My writing and doodles usually end up scattered across random scraps of paper, homework margins, my Notes app, or lost in some Google Docs. Still, no matter how chaotic it gets, journaling is something I always come back to. Looking back, I’ve realized that journaling allows me to be honest with myself and offers me a mindful escape. It’s a learning experience every time— a way to express myself without limits.
Journaling has been around for centuries. According to the Rossi Blog, it dates back to ancient China and Renaissance Europe, where people used it for reflection and documenting their lives. In the 1960s, the Intensive Journal Method took things further, turning journaling into a tool for self-exploration and emotional healing. Today, people journal for various reasons— personal growth, therapy, and clarity. It’s more than just writing. It’s a way to understand oneself better.
For me, journaling is mostly about holding on to my favorite memories. I tape in photos, write small notes about moments that brought me happiness, or leave letters for my future self. Mixing in pictures makes journaling feel personal, like I’m building a scrapbook of cherished moments. Journaling is messy, it’s honest, and it’s something that I can call mine. Sometimes it’s also just a good excuse to print out photos of the people and moments I love lolz.
